Habituales en la mayoría del Monte, en oquedades ya hechas o realizando otras nuevas con un martilleo que se oye cientos de metros, muy beneficiosos para mantener la masa arbolada saneada de insectos.
Este en concreto está habitado con entre tres y cinco pollos y es habitual ver a la hembra asomada hasta que me acerco con la cámara (observad las picadas recientes en el emboque y alrededor de él).
